GizmoAn unusually intelligent Goblin hailing from a Stronghold called BloodTree in the far away land of Pickletopia. He used his superior intellect to invent many tools and trinkets to assist him in performing feats of science that appear magic in nature. Gizmo attempted to busk for money, in a city called Silverton in Pickletopia for a time, using his scientific methods in an attempt to dazzle and amaze onlookers... To no avail however, as traditional magic was far more impressive than his parlour tricks. Angered, he concocted a plan to use his skills to steal, deceive and swindle his way to wealth, which worked, but did little to satisfy his hunger for fame and fortune. Until one day, he heard of the boom in Razor Coast and successfully forged documents to secure passage on the next ship.

Paloma Blanca
My grandparents were enslaved from our home in the jungle, do i remember? I remember my father had to work the sewers of Port Shaw and he died in that crappy place...My mother and I were enslaved on the plantation, she died of a fever and the tyrant took to me hearing my singing and made me perform and do horrible things....I grew to hate and did what I needed to escape, I'm not sure if I'll find my people or if I want to anymore but I've earned some money being a tavern minstrel but it's time I think to find a crew to set sail...I'm the white dove and I'm hangry...angry.

This is the hook I will going with for the beginning of the Razor Coast.
Press-Ganged!
A band of scurvy dogs have drugged and press-ganged the PCs into service aboard the good ship Festering Wound, captained by a slaver named Sarlow Eats-Eyes...
Feel free to elaborate a little on how you were captured and forced to work aboard the Festering Wound. Our first session will likely be a good old-fashioned mutiny.

Feel free to elaborate a little on how you were captured and forced to work aboard the Festering Wound. Our first session will likely be a good old-fashioned mutiny. Gizmo gets caught swindling a crew member of the Festering Wound with one of his tricks. Not used to the lack of police activity, he felt confident that even when caught, he’d be safe, he couldn’t be more wrong. As the crew mate began to yell and scream to his friends, Gizmo turned to look for a guard, but there were none to be seen. ‘Ouch, why does my head hurt? Why is everything going black?’ The next thing he knew, he was waking up in the bowels of a ship in chains and feeling woozy

Paloma hoped to make some coin singing then find and join with The Broken (in the guide ) but it drew too much attention and the news got around of "the plantation fiasco" and the wild "white dove"(her bloody escape). One tyrant replaced the former and sought his property. Unbeknownst to Paloma she also stirred hope for Tulitians....Giddy at the thought of greater freedom she fell into the inspiring tall tales of a fellow Tulitian. She went to meet at their secret hideout only to find it was a trap! The next thing she knew....

Just so you know, I'm thinking I'll probably be giving everyone a single magic item that will be somehow tied to their backstory. 3rd level characters oughta have something to show for themselves after 900xp worth of faffing about.

As for backstory. Ricket is a hermit who has seen visions of an incoming environmental catastrophe, and believes it the fault of the industrious races exploiting the lands for technology. In response, he made his regular habit to sail out on his raft, protesting commercial vessels coming into port at the closest city. On the most recent occasion, Rickect actually managed to stop a commercial ship to pay attention to his rantings, making them easy pickings for the pirates also lying in wait. The ship was promptly raided, and those who weren't murdered were taken prisoner, Ricket among them.
