Seeing as we can't view each others notes, here's R'ruuby's backstory:
During the anarchy of a vicious ostrich attack, R'ruuby survived, more by luck than by skill, by clutching to the feathers and holding desperately on as the birds continued their rampage. It wouldn't be safe for little R'ruuby to let go until the ostriches returned home and went to sleep, taking her far far away from the family and friends that she held dear. She new, that she would probably never see them again.
Fending for herself among the ostriches was a difficult upbringing most of the time but helped her hone her skills and better understand the limits of her own body. After a year or so of depending on the ostriches for transport and food, R'ruuby yearned for freedom, freedom that only sea travel could provide! Hitching a ride on a water-seeking ostrich, R'ruuby made her way to freedom and stowed away on her first ever pirate ship.
It wasn't long before she was discovered, and the crew, hungry as they were, attempted to make a frogs leg stew from her. But she sure showed them! A few quick jabs with her poison tipped spear and some fancy footwork made quick work of a few of the pirates, earning her a place among the crew. The pirates decided that her grip would come in handy in the crows nest, and so she became the lookout, learning how to navigate the seas and spot land from afar.
But this too, was cut tragically short, when a rival pirate ship attacked! Her captain and crew were slaughtered. R'ruuby, again scraping through by the skin of her teeth, slipped into the water before she was spotted by The Ruthless Renegades. Vowing to have her revenge, she swam to the nearest shore, the shore of Fort Inevitable...

Sanina the Maid.
I came here for work. Last job had a Queen who raised a fallen angel and made demonic blood sacrifices of the royal family so slightly toxic workplace....fled for my life and fought off bandits and beasts to get here with my mop (now a spear) ....
Haunted One Feature: Heart of Darkness Those who look into your eyes can see that you have faced unimaginable horror and that you are no stranger to darkness. Though they might fear you, commoners will extend you every courtesy and do their utmost to help you. Unless you have shown yourself to be a danger to them, they will even take up arms to fight alongside you, should you find yourself facing an enemy alone.
CHARACTERISTICS Alignment: Neutral Good Gender: Female Eyes: Brownish green Size: Medium Height: 5ft 4 Faith: Hair: Brown Skin: Fair Age: 23 Weight: -- Personality Traits Timid I expect danger around every corner. I don’t talk about the thing that torments me. I’d rather not burden others with my curse. Ideals I kill monsters to make the world a safer place, and to exorcise my own demons. (Good) Bonds A terrible guilt consumes me. I hope that I can find redemption through my actions. Flaws I am a purveyor of doom and gloom who lives in a world without hope.

Still tweaking the descriptions.
What do you think? Specifically, can I use it?

What's the setting?
I remember something about converting Emerald Spire to Forgotten Realms, but Razor Coast is it's own thing I think. Just wondering if I should be referencing particular places in the back story or keep it vague - there is an invisible bridge in Forgotten Realms.

What's the setting? I remember something about converting Emerald Spire to Forgotten Realms, but Razor Coast is it's own thing I think. Just wondering if I should be referencing particular places in the back story or keep it vague - there is an invisible bridge in Forgotten Realms. This is a question I have been struggling with. My original plan is to change the Emerald Spire to be set in Faerun (Forgotten Realms), and put The Razor Coast somewhere in Faerun. I now realise there are two problems with this: 1 - The Emerald Spire was intended to be set in Golarion (Pathfinder's setting), and it seems a lot more difficult than I thought to simply swap it out for Faerun, given some of the themes and characters in the lower levels of the dungeon. 2 - I now realise that simply swapping Fort Stormshield for Fort Inevitable, thus inserting The Emerald Spire into the Razor Coast, actually kinda ruins the storyline of the Razor Coast campaign! (for reasons that I cannot elaborate on). I think the best thing I can do, to make things easier for myself, and to preserve the overall vision of both campaigns, is to keep the setting as Golarion. I will be keeping everything in The Emerald Spire campaign exactly as written, and simply insert the Razor Coast as a newly discovered region on the map of Golarion. This would mean that the overall aim of the campaign is to find our fortune in the dungeons of The Emerald Spire, thus allowing us to buy a boat and sail to the newly discovered Razor Coast. And the only conversion I have to do is from Pathfinder rules to 5e rules (which is still more difficult than you might think). I have run several campaigns in the Pathfinder setting, so I actually know the history and regions of Golarion much better than I know Faerun. I think I will be much better equipped to run the game this way, and it minimises the amount of setting wrangling I have to do. Although, I imagine a lot of you players probably aren't as familiar with Pathfinder. Am I right? The short answer: The setting is the River Kingdoms of Golarion, so keep it vague if you're unfamiliar, and I will flesh it out with you at the first session.

Some details could be tweaked, but that's basically what I'm going for background wise, was going to have something about keys but then I remembered the trinket thing so wanted to change it but couldn't come up with anything. Also not set on the name, had a Tabaxi style one that was pretty eh, changed it to the name of the place Catfolk in Golarion are from (Murraseth) as one of those slightly racist style nicknames. Have decided to go with Merkhet, the name of an old character that seems to fit the naming conventions used for Golarion Catfolk (judging by an online name generator I found).
The overall aim of the campaign is to find our fortune in the dungeons of The Emerald Spire, thus allowing us to buy a boat and sail to the newly discovered Razor Coast. I'm imagining my character went to a port looking for passage and instead found (was found by) someone offering up partnerships in this scheme. Now importantly, was this someone an NPC or a player?

I figure I'm a traumatised work maid not too familiar with the world or pathfinder (faerun by a great civ 5 mod) so happy to have a job maybe unless she's pushed too far or there's a condo program for maids in this razor coast

These backstories are rad!
I'm thinking R'ruuby's former crew may have accidentally discovered the Razor Coast but were slaughtered by the pirates in the area and R'ruuby vows to return one day and get revenge

Are we actually going to have a player owned ship? If so should we figure out who the captain/leader is?
My vote is for R'ruuby, she already has the hat.

Yes, if it is the plan to get a ship though, rather than join a crew or book passage, someone needs to have that plan. Who is it?
